CURRICULUM

ENGLISH

In English class, students will learn reading, writing and social studies using a thematic unit approach. In addition, they will do a science project at the end of the year. Students are expected to write well-organized, multiple-paragraph essays in narrative, informative and persuasive genres by the end of the school year.

Trimester 1

- Ohlone Indians and Legends

Trimester 2

- California History

- Biographies

- Author Study: Beverly Cleary

- Author Study: Dr. Seuss

Trimester 3

- Science Project

- U.S. Symbols

- U.S. Government

MATH

The main focus areas for 3rd grade math are:

- Multiplication and Division

- Fractions

- Measurement (perimeter, area, liquid volume and weight)
